Kathmandu, Sept 8: Security arrangements in all the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley have been tightened amidst the demonstrations organized by the ‘Gen Z’ people today.

Kathmandu Chief District Officer Chhabi Rijal said the necessary security arrangements were enforced since the morning amidst the reports about the protest today.

A drone-assisted surveillance was put in place so as to avert any untoward incidents. “The protest is recorded and it will help us take prompt measures if any unwanted situation arises,” he said.

Spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Police Office in Ranipokhari, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shekhar Khanal, confirmed reports that groups identifying as ‘Gen Z’ had gathered in the Maitighar area. “We have deployed security forces with a strategic manner,” he said.

It is said security surveillance throughout the valley has been heightened following reports that ‘Gen Z’ groups were protesting ‘restrictions’ imposed on social media.
