Kathmandu, Dec 27: The Nepali Congress has decided to pardon leaders and workers who acted against the party’s interests by not supporting party leaders in past elections and to renew their active membership.

A meeting of the NC Central Work Execution Committee held at the party central office in Sanepa and chaired by Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka has decided to lift disciplinary action and renew active membership.

A statement issued by Krishna Prasad Paudel, the Chief Secretary at the party’s central office, stated, “Considering the current developed political situation and the forthcoming elections to the House of Representatives and the National Assembly, the party has decided to make such a decision to organise the party efficiently, maintain broad unity, embrace the national responsibility to protect the constitution along with the sustainable development of the federal inclusive democratic republican system, and to alert not to commit any acts that violate discipline against the interests of the party in the future.”

Similarly, the statement mentions that the Central Disciplinary Committee has decided to pardon or exempt the remaining term of those expelled, suspended, or otherwise automatically subjected to action according to the party’s constitution for standing as candidates against the party’s candidate or candidates supported by the party in past elections, their proposers and supporters, or for acts of non-cooperation and disciplinary violations.

The meeting has called on those who have quit the party in the past for various reasons and become independent or become candidates, proposers or publicity persons by joining other parties, to return to the NC.
The meeting has decided to assign necessary responsibilities to the person returning with active membership.
