Siraha, Aug 7: Acting Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh has said that cooperation between the three levels of government and the local community was necessary to protect the Chure region to reduce the impacts of climate change.

Inaugurating a newly-constructed commercial building in Lahan today, the Acting Prime Minister said that sustainable preservation of Chure would help resolve the environmental challenges surfaced in Madhes.
On the occasion, Minister Singh appreciated the role played by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction in advancing Nepal’s economy.

Appreciating the timely completion of the construction of the building, Singh noted that it gave a positive message by completing the project on time.
Minister Singh stressed the need for proper management and use of the building for maximum benefits to the stakeholders.

Similarly, Ram Chandra Yadav, Member of the Constituent Assembly and President of Nepali Congress Siraha district committee, said it was necessary to build an irrigation project from Kamala River and Koshi River for the development of the agricultural sector in the district.

Lahan Municipality Mayor Mahesh Prasad Chaudhury, describing Lahan as the third largest commercial hub after Birgunj and Janakpur in Madhesh Province, expressed the confidence that the sophisticated building would further strengthen the city’s economic activities.

The multi-purpose building was constructed at a cost of Rs 310 million.
