Kathmandu – Young entrepreneur and social worker Ram Giri, who has been involved in taekwondo for more than three decades, has been appointed as the Central Vice President of the Nepal Taekwondo Association.

Giri began his taekwondo journey in 1992 (BS 2049) at Balgram Taekwondo Dojang, Chhauni, and has since won dozens of medals in national and international competitions. Previously, he served as a central member of the association and coordinator of the national taekwondo team.

Vice President Giri has been operating a taekwondo dojang for many years, where he trained athletes who went on to compete in national and international tournaments. From his dojang alone, more than 500 athletes have earned black belt titles, with many advancing to second, third, fourth, and fifth Dan levels.

“I am proud that the athletes I trained have established a distinct identity at both national and international levels, making an unparalleled contribution to the development of taekwondo,” said Vice President Giri. “Now, as part of the association’s leadership, I aim to use sports as a means of social transformation and contribute to national development.”

In addition to his sports career, Vice President Giri is well known for his success in business and social service. He has continuously provided support to the association and to taekwondo athletes across the country.

Newly elected Central President Dip Raj Gurung, who was chosen during the association’s fifth convention held in Sauraha, Chitwan, appointed Giri as Vice President.

Stating that taekwondo is an inseparable part of his life, Vice President Giri expressed his commitment to advancing the association’s activities under the vision and guidance of the President, drawing on his long years of experience.

He further emphasized that taekwondo holds a unique identity in Nepal’s sports sector, and pledged to work tirelessly to elevate Nepal’s name on the international stage through this sport.
